Okay, I totally forgot I had a scanlation blog. I mostly tweet if I have anything to say about manga. Sorry. Let’s see, where do I start?

My “little break” in the post-Ueno world has been much longer than I expected. It turns out scanlating manga that isn’t Ueno-san is surprisingly different, and usually more labor-intensive (especially page counts). I do still think of myself as “working on” Karetto, but it’s so much more work than Ueno ever was that every time I think about getting after it, I end up doing something else instead. The fun-to-effort ratio is wacked compared to Ueno, I guess is how you could cut it. If I had better quality raws for volume 2 – actually all four volumes, cuz why not at that point – I could kick it into much higher gear.

That brings me to my second talking point. In the time since my last post, Ueno-san is officially over, and they’ve released the final two volumes 9 and 10. I’m definitely finishing Ueno-san. I’ve had a couple emails trickle in asking about that, so I would like it in black and white: finishing Ueno-san was always my plan. But… well, yeah, I need raws for that, too. I’ve done what little poking around I know of, and haven’t found anything yet (although they’ve only been out for maybe two weeks). So yeah, that’s what is bottlenecking my projects.

Originally, I did have a hookup for raws, but I was only in touch with them through MangaDex, and the website’s hack and redesign and loss of many features has severed this contact. As such, I’ll do what is akin to dogeza and beg: literally anybody who is reading this, feel free to get in touch with me about raws. You can find contact information on the About page of this very blog. Or tell other people. Ask manga-reading friends, discord servers, particularly chill scan groups, or anyone who might know anyone. I’m a recluse and keep to myself, so I’m not especially equipped to rectify this problem on my own. Last time, someone essentially approached me out of the blue and offered, so even then it wasn’t something I took care of myself lol.

UPDATE: I am now fully prepared to resume work on both Ueno-san and Karetto. I may not necessarily go at it with as much fervor as I used to, but it will eventually be done.

I think that’s about all I have to say. My Japanese studies have progressed since the last time I even tried to do any translation, so I feel like it would proceed a good deal smoother nowadays. I’m looking forward to getting back into it, but I’m left somewhat at a loss for the moment. Thanks, and peace.
