File Hosting for Releases

In what will probably be the last preparatory post for the creation of this blog, something I’m opening to discussion is whether there is interest in direct downloads for my releases and where I should host them.

I’d like to have this figured out relatively quickly, even if the answer is “no” so I can shelve the idea and move on. A good deadline is probably around the end of June, the time of my one-year anniversary. If you as a reader have any input on the matter, please feel free to comment here, reach out to me on MangaDex, or send me an email; I have a full contact section now in the About page of this blog.

More or less, every option I’m aware of (which is admittedly not many) costs money. The two I see used most frequently are Mediafire and Mega. There’s also stuff like XDCC through IRC or hosting torrents, but I don’t think that’s the kind of approach I have in mind for now. I’m still just one person with a pretty limited output, lol.

Depending on price, I should have no issue with setting up the initial subscription period. Donations have never been part of my plan for Graveyard of Airships, and I don’t believe they’ll ever be necessary, but as time moves forward I’ll continue to judge whether I think they are deserved or required for operations. I definitely won’t be setting up donations any time soon, though. It makes me feel strange just imagining it.

    That’s all for now. Peace.

    1. What you are doing is pretty cool. Now I can check here every time I think you died lol. Have you by chance considered hosting the downloads on a google drive? [it might be a bit janky but its an idea]

      Also, Obligatory FIRST!

      1. Imgur might be a good site, and having a discord server to show updates would be pretty cool.
